Seeking Henderson Settlement Missionaries

Sulphur Grove UMC will be sending a Work Team to Henderson Settlement April 22-28, 2012. We are looking for Work Team members, from the Y, Taylorsville, Brandt and Good Shepherd (New Carlisle) campuses, with a variety of skills from some carpentry, plumbing and painting to perhaps working in the greenhouse or office. Henderson has been serving the needs of this Appalachian area of the Laurel Fork Valley since about 1925. It is a mission agency of the United Methodist Church within the Red Bird Mission District. The cost for the Henderson Settlement Mission is $385 that will include all costs except for our travel and meals on our “free day” (Wednesday). The application form is on this website or can be obtained from the office or from Work Team Leader, Kate Roberts (robe369@sbcglobal.net) or co-leader, Cindy Thomson (caleydog@aol.com). A $200 deposit plus the signed application form is due by Nov. 30, 2011, with the final payment due Feb. 15, 2012. For more information about Henderson Settlement, ask Kate, Cindy or Peggy and Rudy Beavin, Missions Committee co-chairs (rpbeavin@sbcglobal.net). Consider how you can help the residents in this impoverished area…and it’s only 5 ½ “easy hours” from Sulphur Grove.
