Core Values
WE ARE THE PEOPLE OF SULPHUR GROVE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH!
We Value:
Our worship life together--- We believe that our God is glorified when we strive for excellence in all our worship
experiences. We believe that worship should be done with life and vitality. At the center of our worship is the Biblical
proclamation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our opportunities to learn how to live the "Christian Life" and to grow as people of faith--- We are called to a strong and
intentional emphasis on Christian Education. We believe that every person, from cradle to grave, is called to grow through
study. Our opportunities for personal growth are increased as we learn together in a community of believers.
Our care of poor and hurting people--- We are a "mission church." We believe in reaching out to those in need locally,
nationally and globally. We share our resources, physically and financially, in order that others might experience the
love of Jesus Christ.
Our love for all people--- People need to be loved and share that love with others. We cherish being part of a community
of faith where relationships are important and people are valued.
CONGREGATIONAL GOALS
As a response to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, our values, our mission and our
understanding of our local, national and global community, we set the following goals:
To live the Biblical command to be a "Great Commission Church."(Matthew 28:16-20)
To continue to build on our strengths in the areas of worship and our role as a "mission church."
To develop a partnership with the Huber Heights YMCA. To use this opportunity to expand our role in the community as a
worshiping, discipleing and caring church. To learn how to be and live out our ministry as a "dual campus" congregation.
To renovate, update or replace current facilities and equipment.
To learn and to initiate strategies that will assist our congregation to increase their level of stewardship.
To continue to develop Christian leaders that are capable of bringing Biblically based vision to our overall ministry. This
effort will include an assessment of our present models of leadership and ministry.
To bring excellence to our education, relational and growth ministries. To place particular emphasis on development of an
excellent ministry for children and on a continued strengthening of youth and adult ministries. This will include the
initiation and "building up" of small group ministries. |
