REVELATION – The Triumph of God
Sundays ~ 9:50—10:25 am (Taylorsville room 301)
We will explore the book of Revelation and discover the things Jesus wants us to know about what will happen in the last days of the world (which may be close). John writes, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.” Come and join us in our journey through this great book of the Bible. We meet Sunday mornings, right after the first service. Everyone is welcome. Drop in whenever you can.

FRIDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY
Began Friday, January 7 ~ 9:15-11:00 am (YMCA)
What Happens When Women Pray by Evelyn Christenson
A second daytime study will be added to the line-up starting Friday, January 7.  This study will help us learn ways to enrich our prayer life and how to respond when God answers.  The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (James 5:16)  This eight week study will be held at the YMCA.  Please contact Sandy Hedge if you are interested in attending.  (I was able to obtain used books in good condition for $6.00 each.)

THE STORY OF SCRIPTURE
Began Sunday, January 9 ~ 7:00 pm during Faith Weavers (Taylorsville)
Join us as the adult Bible study adventure continues through the Winter Season of Faith Weavers as we journey through the amazing story of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.  This Bible class puts the story of God and His people together so that you will know how well all the parts and people fit into a unified whole.  In January, we will discover the story of Israel's King David in the Old Testament book of 2 Samuel, and how his leadership and awesome heart for God can impact our worship and life as God's people just as it did in his time.  We'll also look at the mighty prophet Isaiah, and the incredible message of hope he proclaims for God's people in every generation.  You can join the class at any point.  Study books provided.

NEW BIBLE STUDY – Behold Jesus is Coming - Revelation
Begins Tuesday, January 18 ~ 5:30-7:00 pm (Taylorsville room 101)
We’ll be starting a 13-week study of the book of Revelation. About 1900 years ago Jesus revealed to the apostle John how world history would end. Jesus’ revelation was an expansion of what God had already revealed to Daniel many centuries earlier concerning the seven year period known as Daniels’ Seventieth Week or the Great Tribulation. Current world events (increasing natural disasters, wars, Christian persecution, and political movement toward a new world order) appear to be the beginning of the fulfillment of these prophecies. This study will help us better understand current and future events; remove our fear of the unknown; give us hope for tomorrow; and give us new confidence in God’s sovereignty and justice. For more information or to register for the study please contact Bill Baker.

STUDY OF WORLD RELIGIONS
Begins Sunday, January 23 ~ 7:00 pm during FaithWeavers (Taylorsville)
Why are you a Christian and not a Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, or Jew? Why are you a Methodist Christian and not an Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Baptist, or Pentecostal? Most of us can offer up at least a shallow answer to these questions. However, our shallow answers may earn an even more shallow respect from those who, in our increasingly multi-cultural society, may question our faith decisions. To inform another person’s faith decision, we must first be informed of our own. In a year-long series led by the Rev. Dan Held, beginning January 23 as part of our Faith Weavers ministry, we will begin with a study of world religions and what makes Christianity different. We will then follow, for those interested, with a study of Christian denominations and what makes Methodism different. If you’d like to make 2011 the year when you know and respect your own faith decision better than ever before, this is the class for you!
